Move google hangout chats to office 365 copy

I was recently working with a customer who was using G-Suite for collaboration. When we spoke about migration of their existing G-Suite data to Office 365, they informed that they have some critical data on Hangout Chats which the want to move to Office 365 as well. I checked and found that there are no native or 3rd party tools which can do Hangout Chat data migration. Since this was “showstopper” for them, I looked for options and found that we can move the Hangout chat data to Office 365 with some manual effort and few riders discussed below.

Although Office 365 comes with a robust built-in DLP for Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, yet there are customers who have invested in 3rd party DLP solutions and would want to use them with Exchange Online. Reason for this varies from protecting existing investment on DLP to opting Office 365 SKU’s which don’t have DLP bundled into them or specific requirements around integration with Network, Endpoint and Web DLP. Whatever might be the reason, if customer decides to use 3rd party DLP solution along with Exchange Online, placement of DLP solution and email routing becomes overly critical.
